Marriage to Dave Bautista

Angie and Dave Bautista got married on October 13, 1998 (some references quote November 16, 1998). The then-29 year old Bautista was just starting on his illustrious wrestling career. Initially, he used the name ‘Batista’ for the ring.  The famous wrestler has won ‘World Heavyweight Championship’ four times, ‘WWE Championship’ two times, ‘World Tag Team Championship’ three times, besides several other championships. He also won ‘2005 Royal Rumble,’ ‘WrestleMania 21’ and ‘WrestleMania XXX.

As a tribute to Angie, Bautista got some letters tattooed some on his upper left biceps that read ‘Angel’ in ‘Kanji’ (Chinese Logographic characters).

After 8 years of marriage, the two separated in 2006. His linkup with a WWF Diva was said to be the reason of their divorce.

Bautista published his autobiography, ‘Batista Unleashed,’ on October 16, 2007. After Angie Bautista read the book, the two became close again. In Bautista’s words, ‘We have become close again, which we really haven’t been in years. I really learnt a lot about her and she learned a lot about me from reading the book. She actually saw things from a different perspective from reading the book. So that was definitely therapeutic.’

Earlier, Bautista was married to Glenda Bautista, and the couple had two daughters – Keilani (Born 1990) and Athena (born 1992).  Later, he married his third wife, a professional pole dancer, Sarah Jade in 2015, but the two divorced in 2019.

Angie is a Cancer Survivor

Angie began experiencing weakness and started noticing fresh bruises on her body (probably in early 2000s). She attributed it to the changes in her fitness regime and nutrition. But the symptoms continued to deteriorate and then she was hospitalized.

Several tests showed a tumor in her right ovary. On September 9, 2002, Angie was diagnosed with an ovarian cancer. She was then treated with ‘Taxol’ and ‘Carboplatin.’ 

Angie’s husband supported her and also endeavored to raise funds for ‘ovarian cancer patients.’ Angie, too, worked for the fund raising for ‘Ovarian Cancer Research Alliance OCRA.’

While explaining her experience with cancer, Angie stated, ‘People think that the people with cancer look a certain way, but it can affect someone who appears perfectly physically fit.’

Reportedly, Dave Bautista traveled around the US and prepared a video for ovarian cancer research. The video was released in August 2010 by ‘Monday Mayhem Wrestling’ in association with ‘The South of France Spa Naturals.’ The video was dedicated to Angie and she felt touched by the gesture.

Motherhood

The couple’s only child, Oliver Bautista, was born in 2007 (After their divorce). He was born through ‘In-Vitro Fertilization’ (IVF) as Angie was in remission at that time. According to her, he is a ‘miracle child.’ Angie said that her son inspired her to be positive all through her battle with cancer. 

Since her divorce, Angie has maintained a private life away from spotlight. Reportedly, she works as a fitness supporter.
